Welcome to "VOLUNTEER HERO", where you will find valuable information about the rescue squads and fire departments of Campbell County as well as about emergency medical services and fire fighting in general.  In addition we hope to be able to provide you with information about volunteering with one of our agencies in Campbell County and truly making a difference, to perhaps ... save a life in Campbell County!

Emergency Medical Services in Campbell County are delivered through a collaborative effort of independent, volunteer rescue squads and the Campbell County Department of Public Safety.  The rescue squads that serve Campbell County are:

Altavista EMS (Sq.1), Campbell County Rescue Squad (Sq. 2), Citizens Emergency Crew (Sq. 3), Concord Rescue Squad (Sq. 4),  Brookneal Rescue Squad (Sq. 5) and the Rustburg Rescue Squad (Sq. 6).

The Fire Division consists of only independent, volunteer agencies at this time. The volunteer fire departments in Campbell County are as follows;

Altavista VFD (Co. 10), Brookneal VFD (Co. 11), Brookville-Timberlake VFD (Co. 12), Concord VFD (Co. 13), Gladys VFD (Co. 14), Lyn-Dan Heights VFD (Co. 15), Rustburg VFD (Co. 16), Evington VFD (Co. 17).

On a side note; The Campbell County Department of Public Safety, EMS Division provides EMS services to the citizens of, and visitors to Campbell County as well.  These career EMS services complement the services provided by our dedicated volunteer professionals.
