On behalf of County Administrator David Laurrell and the Campbell County Board of Supervisors, it is our pleasure to introduce Randall Johnson as the new full time Fire Marshal for Campbell County. Randall went through a vigorous and competitive hiring process that included participation from the Fire Commissioner, the Sheriff’s department, the Building Official, county HR, and the Public Safety Director for Amherst County. Randall’s responsibilities as part of the Department of Public Safety will be fire investigations, serving as the fire prevention code official, and to collaborate with the eight volunteer fire chiefs on all county wide fire service related issues on behalf of the department. Below you will find a summary of Randall’s accomplishments.
Randall began as a volunteer in 1998 with the Farmville Volunteer Fire Department while attending Longwood University. While with Farmville he served as firefighter, company officer, and Assistant Chief. After Graduating from Longwood he became the Environmental Health and Safety Officer for the college responsible for all of the Fire and Life Safety, OSHA compliance, Asbestoses/Lead, and Emergency Operations for the Campus. While there he earned his fire NFPA fire inspector and investigator certifications. Soon after, Randall helped the Town of Farmville start its own Fire Marshal’s office. In 2005 he became a firefighter for the City of Lynchburg. From August 2007-Feburary 2009 he served as the Deputy Fire Marshal in Campbell County and has recently been serving as the county’s interim Fire Marshal. Randall also has volunteered with Driver Volunteer Fire Department in Suffolk VA and Concord Volunteer Fire Department.
Please join me in welcoming Randall on board!
