FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CAMPBELL COUNTY BANS OUTDOOR BURNING
Effective immediately, Campbell County has banned all outdoor burning, both public and commercial. Recent dry weather has caused drought conditions which may increase the potential for fires and significantly impact fire intensity. Once ignited, fire can burn in all directions, thus materials such as leaves, under brush, and other dried matter may become combustible. If exposed to flame, larger objects, such as tree limbs, fallen timber and other debris could burn or smolder for several days, creating possible smoke and control problems.
The burn ban will remain in effect until drought conditions improve and the extreme fire danger has abated.
Questions concerning the burn ban should be directed to Randall Johnson, Public Safety Deputy Director-Fire Marshal, at (434) 332-9540.
